The FOL 2008
Hello to all friends of chess. I will give you some short information about what FOL actually is:
The FOL (Freestyle Online League) is "NO TOURNAMENT", but "AN ENGINE LEAGUE" which will be played throughout 1 year, similar to the soccer leagues in various nations. That means for you: you have to be sure for yourself that this tournament goes 1 year and thus that you have the endurance to play it till the end.
The time control of this tournament is 90+30 and the games will be played Unrated, because we have to make sure everyone gets the exact colour in their games, according to the schedule.
Please Note: Only 1 game per week for each player, as the schedule will indicate! You have to agree on a playing date with your opponent via E-Mail, according to the schedule. The games have to be played from the time range: Sunday till next Saturday as indicated in the schedule.
This has to be that way, because on Sunday I want to upload the updated table and refresh the website. I will soon send around an E-Mail List with all participants and their usernames.
Please “ALWAYS USE THE SAME USERNAME”.
Also: “PLEASE ALWAYS POST THE PGN INTO OUR FORUM". This is usually done by the winner after the game, or in case of a draw by the White player.
Posting the PGN into the forum is easy:
1. When finished re-open the game and click on Edit - Copy - Copy Game
2. Open the Windows Text Editor and push Ctrl + V
3. Mark all the text that is in there via Pushing Ctrl + A
4. Open the forum and post the game in the according thread, threads are made for example this way:
“POST ALL GAMES OF ROUND 22 PLEASE HERE” - “BITTE ALLE PARTIEN VON SPIELTAG 22 HIER POSTEN"
